All new vehicles that are registered (>3.5 tons) must be equipped with a 4.1 smart tachograph 2nd generation*. When a defective tachograph needs to be replaced, it is mandatory to replace it with a 4.1 regardless of the type that was originally installed. (international transport) |
| End of 2024 |
All vehicles (>3.5 tons international transport) are required to perform a retrofit. This means that all analog or digital tachographs will be replaced by a 2nd generation 4.1 smart tachograph. |
| August 2025 |
Mandatory retrofit for all vehicles (>3.5 tons international transport) that were equipped with a 1st generation smart tachograph. These must be replaced by a 2nd generation 4.1 smart tachograph. |
| July 2026 |
All new vehicles of >2.5 tons that are registered must be mandatorily equipped with 4.1 smart tachograph 2nd generation. |
